Welcoming Autumn

I know Saturday was the official beginning of Autumn but it really has taken me some time to get into the groove.

Well, over the weekend I finally got my act together and welcomed Autumn in to my home. Well, some parts of my home.

Today, I wanted to share my mantel with everyone newly dressed for the cooler fall days. How long these changes will last is any ones guess since we’re getting  close to Halloween and I love Halloween so I’ll most likely changes things up a bit.

I for one always like to have something different each year because I love change when it comes to home decor and I want to try everything out. So, I decided to haul this large slab of wood out of the garage and give a whirl up on the mantel.

Fall mantel 6

Who knew…I love it. It’s natural, adds warmth and texture and I just thought it was different. Natures art.  I wanted to change out the barn door that had been living there for a very long time. As much as I like it I needed to spice things up a bit.  I’ll find another place for it and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it where ever it ends up in my home.

I used everything I had around the house. I decided I dig around  before I when out to buy something new and I’m glad I did.

Fall mantel 2

The gourds I  bought off Ebay years ago. The glass jar holds more small gourds as well. the copper piece was in my loft I don’t recall where I even got it but I like the patina of it.

Fall mantel 10

The horn-shaped vase is from my childhood home and the urn from another room.

Fall mantel 13

I love the white pumpkin, I bought it maybe three years ago at the most amazing antique store. The demi john I picked up at a barn sale a couple of weeks ago. Over the summer I bought the white candle holders from TJ Maxx.

Fall mantel 9

The taxidermy seems to be a bit lost against the cream color walls so I may have to paint him. But, I dig him no matter what color he may end up. Thinking gold…gold is fun and autumn like.

Fall mantel 8

That’s pretty much it for the my Autumn mantel.

Fall mantel 11

I really wanted something that didn’t scream autumn just whisper it. I think it does just that.

Thanks for stopping by.
