Thanksgiving Mantel

I made a couple of changes in the family room to give the mantel more of a Thanksgiving mood.  I just used what I had around the house. The pumpkins I made last year and added dried pumpkin stems. I actually just found them so I decided to put out all the smaller ones that I made.

The GIVE THANKS banner is just made from some canvas scraps and ribbon I had left over and between the gluing and sewing it took about an hour to make.

Our mantel is very tall and was built by my husband. He wants to redo it..we’ll see where that takes us. I like change, plus he took out the stone around the bottom to replace some wood. He replaced the stone but never  remortared the bottom because of the wanting to redo the whole thing…so I never show any pictures of that part.

The wheat I had gotten years ago and then found these pots that fit them perfectly. They were red but I spray painted them brown. I like them so much better (loving the spray paint).

This is what the mantle looked like before above and below is the new Thanksgiving look.

I think the Thanksgiving Mantel is a nice change. What do you think?

Lovely Thanksgiving mantle. How did you make the pumpkins…and what a great idea to dry to pumpkin stems…never thought of that!

    • Thanks Mary. I used muslin and painted them up with craft paint. I save my pumpkin stems each year and dry them out.
      Have a great day. Susan
