My husband and I have been wanting to add more counter space to our island for a long time now. So, over the holidays my husband made one. We had been out looking for reclaimed wood for the top and found some old walnut but the cost was way to high and he was looking to make a butcher block style. While we were in one store looking for possible options he came up with a solution. Off to Lowes and for about 60.00 came up with a great top. A far cry from the 500.00 price tag of the walnut. I was enlisted to stain and seal. We painted the cabinet in Ink Black by Benjamin Moore left over from another project. Now we need to replace the lighting over the island and new stools. The project continues…I’ll keep you updated.
