New Cabinet

We made some changes to our kitchen this past spring. When we did that we also talked about adding a cabinet over the little desk area. My husband and I are always talking about different projects we would like to do to the house and I was hoping he would get to this project. Well…he did and I love it.

Here’s what it looked like before.

We’ve had this black storage cabinet there since we bought from Pottery barn years ago and basically it just has housed the shed keys. I know the pictures are not good but my normally sunny kitchen has been very gloomy due to the overcast weather. My husband started it the other day and raised the height of the desk because the kids use the chairs from the kitchen island to use the computer and we mustn’t mess up the leggings by smashing little legs under the desk.  Are you digging the striped leggings? Oh and yes that is a roll by the books. Anyway, this is how it turned out.

I painted it up to match the kitchen cabinets. I did paint the back of the cabinet in a cream color paint but it’s not really a contrast and it doesn’t really show up in the pictures. The bottom of the desk is a gray-blue and again did not show well in this picture. My husband is going to add crown molding to match the rest of the cabinets in the kitchen but he has to make it because he’s not sure he can get that style. The top of the desk is made from old barn wood that I bought years ago.

I really love the way it turned out. My husband made adjustable shelves for the cabinet (I think he’s on to my changeable ways). I just gathered some items from around the house for the pictures. I’ll will probably change things up again after a couple of days of staring at it.

I will try to get some more pictures when the sunny comes out again.

Have a happy Monday.

The change is great. Like that your husband made a number of bracket holes for changes in height to accomodate anything you want to add in there.
