Christmas Mantel

As I said yesterday decorating for the Christmas season has been on the slow side. When I start pulling everything out to decorate  I always start with my mantel, for some reason it seems to get the ball rolling.

This year I went with something very simple, not on purpose, I just said let me try this and I’ll add something later and I wandered away. I seem to do that. I’ll start one place and then grab something else go into another room and so on, it’s probably a very puzzling sight but it works for me. Anyway, I liked the simple look so I went with it.

I just used what I had around the house.

I made the lighted balls from chicken wire, I used them on the porch last year and I never intended to keep them there but it give off a nice  the glow at night and you really don’t see all the chicken wire when the lights are lit (of course you in the photo I’m right on top of it). I also used some grapevine pumpkins wrapped in lights as well.

I haven’t hung any stocking because I  haven’t decided if I want to use the ones that I have or make new stockings.

I love pinecones and used a lot around the house this year.

I picked up the two beaded snowflake candle holders about a month ago at the Pottery Barn outlet and I knew they would be perfect hanging in the windows that are on either side of the fireplace.

So there it is, a very plain and simple Christmas mantel.

Have a wonderful day.
