Oh my, how I’m loving my five dollar bamboo chest of drawers yard sale find. The before very boring but very cool lines.
Here is the after.
BLUE. Very blue. I know this color may not everyone’s taste, frankly I’m not even sure it was for my taste but I do love how different it is.
For now I have the bamboo chest of drawers in my entryway firstly so I may gaze upon it with delight on how it turned out and secondly I’m still trying to adjust to the strong color. I think it goes nicely with the mirror that I made and adds a summer air about the room don’t you think?
The color is called Holiday Cozumel Aqua by Glidden. It’s the first time I’ve used their high endurance plus line and the paint, if I may say worked out quite nicely. I used a semi-gloss and finished it off with a bit of Annie Sloan dark wax to tone the piece down and give it a bit of depth.
To add a bit of a surprise (as if the color on the outside was not bright enough)some pink and white contact paper I picked up months ago just because it was pink and pretty. The inside of the drawers had an old lady perfume smell to them so I wipe them down with some vodka. Yep, vodka my mom always used it when she bought a piece of furniture with a musty smell to it. Works great.
For the drawer pulls I just gave them a couple of coats of spray paint. I used Kryon’s paint and primer in metallic gold. Love this stuff, it’s gold without being too gold if you know what I mean.
Tell me what your thought are. Too blue or pretty cool.
Have a great day. Susan
